Another New Neighbor

Real estate in Santa Fe is through the roof. Prices have risen and inventory is low and homes are selling fast, at high prices.

Recently the house directly across the street from us sold and a woman moved in who gutted the inside, made major renovations and cleaned up the outside beautifully. Now the house directly next to us has sold, and again it is a single woman. We share a fence on one side. 

The house went on the market on a Sunday in September. By the end of the day there were 11 showings and two offers over the asking price. The seller took the one that was $20,000 over. It doesn't need renovations either inside or out, but it is not a mansion, it's only 1,200 square feet. Prices are wacky.

So we have two new people immediately next to and across from us. 

It's funny, Jim and I are the old timers now, welcoming newcomers to our neighborhood. That feels strange.
