Changing Light

I love to watch winter's evening light play with the painting of the deer in our living room.

The painting is dark and brooding on the wall much of the time, especially at night, but just as we sit down to have our wine at 5:00 and listen to music in the living room, setting rays of the sun light it up in constantly changing ways.

It only lasts half an hour as the light sinks below the houses behind us. It's late winter light and it seeks out this painting on the wall.

At times the antlers glow, at times raw red inside the body throbs. The background lights up in a cosmic swirl, then darkens, then starry pops of color appear in pools of turquoise.

I love this painting. I really do. It's not to everyone's taste, but I am fascinated with its technique, colors, vibrancy and odd depiction of nature.
