Another Tree Post

My editor says I can't do another post about nothing but a tree, but I can, so here it is.

These are Texas red oaks (Quercus buckleyi) at the Santa Fe Botanical garden in mid October. While Santa Fe does not get the blazing hillside tapestries of color in autumn that New England does, we do have some bright reds. Mostly ash trees in the city, which color deep wine red.

But it's the Texas red oak that stands out in this season. It's not widely planted in town, but the botanical garden has several, all still quite young since the garden is less than 10 years old.

They are beautiful trees, they thrive in drought and I'm going to plant one in my yard if I can find a place to put it. Which I don't have.
