We're Not Texas

We got the bitter cold and snow and ice that Texas got recently, and some around here were a bit alarmed about that.

But we did not have power outages or water line breaks or any kind of disaster, thankfully. Northern New Mexico is used to winter and our systems are "hardened" against deep cold. Our furnace has been running rather a lot this week.

Today I was happy to see the sun finally, and to hear the drip drip of melting snow. It's still too cold, but the sun warms surfaces it touches. We do need the moisture -- that's how Santafesinos greet each other when it snows: "Hi, how are you, we do need the moisture, don't we."

My stone gate guardians will thaw out soon I hope.
