Distancing and Masks
Tulips are simply too gregarious and undisciplined to do physical distancing. I tried, but they won't stay six feet apart.
And this family wants to know if they have to wear masks if they have no mouths. Do they still need to? I wonder.
Local nurseries in Santa Fe have opened up, with physical distancing guidelines in place and curbside pickup. The governor determined they were essential businesses with perishable products, and quite necessary to our well being right now.
The bigger issue, though, was that the garden centers at Home Depot and Lowe's were open, while the local nurseries were closed. It did not sit right that the big stores should be favored like that. It was like closing down all the restaurants while leaving Taco Bell open and steering all business there. Nope.
But the nurseries have to enforce distancing, sanitizing, mask wearing, limiting the number of customers at one time and other restrictions. It's still a huge hit to their very short business season, and it's still a caution for us to shop there. Or anywhere.
