Back Home

We're home after ten days back east and in Denver celebrating Christmas with family, seeing old friends we left when we moved, and revisiting where we came from. It was wonderful.

But now we are home, back in Santa Fe, and the thing is. . . it truly is home. After such a memorable trip -- such good times we had -- it felt welcoming to open the squeaky courtyard gate, unlock the kitchen door and be home.

It was balmy when we got back, in the high 50s. It did not look like this picture, which was taken when we had the little bit of snow before we left -- but after icy New England and frigid snowy Denver, I wanted to prolong the Christmas look and feel, and a fire was called for.

So we pulled up the photo of what passed for snow in Santa Fe a few weeks ago, unpacked our suitcases, lit a fire, and enjoyed being back home, remembering our recent travels and how good it felt to be with family in all the far parts of the country.

Ahhh.
