Pink

If you have a newly painted house in a rosy pink shade of stucco, you should have a pink tree out in front of it.

The flowering plums that line our streets are awkward trees, too small to walk under, pruned oddly, and not really in good health after 20 years of growing in constricted sites with little water. But once a year in April they redeem themselves.

Boy, do they make up for the other seasons. It's brief, though, so a windy April day was a great time to get out and see them against a bluebird sky before the show goes by and their dark purple foliage comes out.

Each little tree is not much to look at, especially the one in front of our house. But lining the sidewalks up and down our streets, the pink display is wonderful.

Happy Spring, everyone.

Nancy's cherry orchard is just breaking into bloom.
We'll always associate her front yard with you!
Annual thanks.
