Do You See What I See?

Do you see them? Two scarlet leaves on my Japanese maple.

This is the Japanese maple (Seiryu) selected specifically for its brilliant red fall color, carefully sited in a big pot out of the scorching New Mexico sun and watered to the point of sogginess -- the maple that never colored one bit in its first two years -- and this September it has two red leaves. Browned a bit at the tips, but there they are, unmistakably crimson.

Be still my heart.
